Halloween 2008

Another year, another themed costume bash. This year it was the Peter Pan theme, with little Layla Mae starring as Tinker Bell. The rest of us fell in as supporting characters, and we had a blast wherever we went, this year we hit up 6 different venues for candy and Layla needed help eating all her loot, so I was happy to oblige...

At GT for the annual bash, we even won the coveted best costume trophy!

Grandma Joyce turns 79!

In early October my Grandma Joyce visted Denver to celebrate her 79th birthday! The surprise was the vist from Holly, Lynn and Cally, which was great fun, we had a great time hosting the family and celebrating another year in the life of my amazing missionary grandma!

Aaron, Kristi and Grandma at Aaron's house for Grandma's surprise b-day party, it was great, and I enjoyed the grape/mango juice.

Buca del Bepo, they've got a killer Tiramsu.

Denver Marathon

On Sunday, October 19th, some friends and I ran the Denver Marathon in the relay. It was great, I ran the first 6 miles, starting at 6:30 AM, and we ended up in 52nd place (33rd place considering our 10 minute delay at the 2nd relay station, my fault for running the first leg faster than anticipated), not bad for 330+ entries. It was a perfect fall day, and I discovered that running 6 miles is much easier than running 26.2!

Jamie, Sands, Mark and me. Mark is an ultra-marthoner, Sands is Giambi as a CPA (without the steriods) and Jamie is my personal trainer. I felt priveleged to be in such successful company.

Everyday life

I've noticed that blogs tend to focus on events and non-everyday occurances, so I thought I'd post a bit of our everyday life, which is every bit as action-packed as these photos depict:

Back to School night

Alright, I'm a bit late on updating the blog, so for you loyal readers out there (probably still a circulation of 2), here's some recent news. We went to Dallas' back to school night in early September to visit his school and show the family how he's now spending 3 hours of his weekdays. He showed off his new school proudly, and Gold Rush Elementary didn't dissapoint, it truly is a great school and we're excited to be a Golden Retriever family.

Dallas Lee goes to kindergarten!

Our big boy, Dallas Lee, started kindergarten today! He is going to a new school they just built down the street from us called Gold Rush Elementary. They are the fighting Golden Retrievers! He had so much fun, and was such a big boy, even riding the bus by himself to school. We followed him there in the van with the fam and got some good pictures, and were there to pick him up at 11:30 with school color balloons! His teacher is Mrs. Brown (and she has a lovely daughter) and he has already made some new friends. We are excited to go to an open house for the new school tomorrow night where we'll get a tour of the facilities and Dallas will get to show his brothers and sister his new room. The classroom is amazing, they even have four brand new Macs to play with and a fancy projector screen for powerpoints, a far cry from the days of wood blocks and play-doh! (although they still have those in the room as well...) We're looking forward to a great year for our little golden retriever and can't wait to see the places he'll go!

Layla Mae the model

Layla recently had a photo shoot with a friend of ours, and the photos came out great! Our friend Adriane is a photographer and did a great session with Layla the other day, see the link to their blog below for more:

Independence Pass

We went camping with Becca's family near Marble, CO last weekend and had a blast. We played in the Crystal River, swam in the Glenwood Hot Springs and just relaxed and took in the beautiful scenery. The boys all tried the big slide at the pool (on our laps in the inner tube) and they really liked it. On the way home we drove through Aspen, paid $5.12/gal for gas! and headed up over Independence Pass. It was beautiful at 12,096 ft, and there was still snow up there.

the Cohrs family enters the 21st Century!

We can't avoid it any longer, so we're officially joining the 21st century with our own blog! The Cohrsville Times is going digital. Most people don't remember the original Cohrsville Times (of course, it had a circulation of 2 and was made with pen and paper), but it's getting updated and digitized. I don't know how often we'll be able to update things, but it should be fun, so stay tuned...
